Jules, Vincent and Mia are doctors at the local hospital. One of their functions is on call for Hours not handle any emergency that might arise. Each carries a pager that can be activated by staff hospital. Suppose Jules meets his pager 60% of the time, Vincent answered his pager 45% of the time, and Mia answered his pager 65% of the time. If each person reacts independently, what is the probability that at least one of them could be contacted in an emergency?

P (no response) = (.40) * (.55) * (.35) = 0.077, or about 7.7% P (at least one) = 1.00-.077 = 0.923, or about 92.3% Answer: The probability that at least one of them could be contacted in an emergency is 92.3% Good luck in your studies, ~ Mitch
