I went looking for the lightest laptop the other day and after few hours of research I was pretty frustrated. "Ultalight laptop", "light weight Laptop Computer – I tried different approaches.
What I found many old machines – 1, 2 or 3 years. And a ton of spam web sites that took my keys and Research has created a dynamic page. Who has allowed himself to manufacturers and looking at the specifications of the actual product to see who has the lightest laptops. Fortunately, I finally found a list to start so here they are – light weights.
The Fujitsu LifeBook Q2010 weighs 2.2 pounds with a 12.1-Inch Screen. Unfortunately, it has 1.2Ghz processor and Hard Drive 30 GB but it comes with XP Pro and a DVD burner.
The Dell Latitude D420 also has a 12.1 inch screen and is significantly less expensive, but at 1.2 GHz and a slow (4200rpm) 30 GB HD and it weighs about 3 pounds. It also comes with 512 MB of DDR2-533 SDRAM DIMMs built on. Upgrading to 1GB or 1.5GB is reasonable, but the 2GB configuration costs an additional $ 1000 (probably because it requires a DIMM 1.5 GB).
The Sony VAIO VGNTX750PB weighs 2.76 pounds. It has a smaller screen (11.1 inches) than some of the other, a 1.2 GHz processor, but it includes a hard disk of 80GB and a DVD +-RW Double Layer Combo Drive. Memory is expandable to 1.5 GB
The Lenovo ThinkPad X60 3.3 pounds have a 1.66GHz Core Duo, a 12.1 inch screen and 60GB hard drive. The memory is theoretically expandable to 4GB, but it has no optical drive. You must get a ThinkPad X6 UltraBase add a CD or DVD. This type of barrier uses his mobile.
The Averatec AV2260 and weighed 4 pounds, comes with a 1.8GHz AMD Turion 64 Mobile, a 12.1 inch screen, 1 GB DDR-SDRAM installed a hard drive of 80 GB and a DVD +-RW Dual Layer Combination Drive. Obviously, the lightest laptops in this list is Fujitsu. If you really want a laptop ultra-light, then you must accept some sacrifices. Personally, I think I'd rather have a more powerful machine. I do not like the small screens on portable computers very light.
As with any computer purchase is important that you analyze carefully what you do with a machine. Lightweight notebooks are nice simply because they are no less hassle to lug around, but there are compromises involved that may make weight by over less important issues. Apart from tending to be more expensive, a laptop will almost always light a small screen and keyboard more compact than heavier notebooks. The real question you should ask yourself Not "What is the lightest laptops? is "What is the lightest laptop that meets my needs?"
