What is the best ceiling 5.1 Home Theater System that I can buy under $ 1000 installed?
My new condo is pre-wired for a 5.1 surround sound. I hope to buy ceiling speakers, center speaker to the ceiling, a subwoofer and receiver. My room is quite small (About 18 ft. by 16 ft.). I want something that sounds good, but is relatively cheap (less than $ 1k) including installation. I guess the installation would be cheaper for me because I'm already pre-wired for the system. What brand of system do I seek and where can I find buy. I live in Sacramento, California. if that helps. If $ 1,000 is impossible lets keep it under $ 1.400.
In ceiling wall speakers are the worst way to go. The wall or ceiling is in place of the wooden box as the speaker. The problem is that the wall cavities and ceiling are uneven and you end up with each speaker sounding different. The center speaker (voice / dialogue) should be as close to the TV, more or less, not the ceiling for realistic sound. Imagine you are talking to someone and their voice comes from the ceiling. Would this little weird? Half Your budget would go to install it if I had to do it for you (assuming that the pre-wiring is done correctly. I had to rewire pre-wired homes so often it's not even funny.) I say if because I do not install systems cheap and I do not install in ceilings or walls. There is no way to make that sound good things and it would be like I'm left with an unhappy customer. I used to ask $ 1000 when someone called me to get into one of these until someone actually agreed to my price. Now I just say NO. Double your budget ($ 2,000) and you can get a good set of speakers if you go to your local "high end" store. If the place comes pre-wired properly, you may install it yourself.
