"I can stick in any memory module in my desktop computer?
Okay, so today I found a box with tons of parts the computer. I also found 3 memory modules. I'm not sure how much capacity is but I want to add it to my computer. Will it work or not? Thanks
RAM chips come in many different types, DDR, DDR2, DDR3, etc none of the standards work together and each can run at different speeds, all these things have to compete with the memory chip RAM when working inside the computer. It might be through co-incidence which could have a RAM chip parties in which case you're good to go, but do not know what type of RAM chips that are and what kind of RAM your computer uses no one can give a definite response. That said you can always try the first thing I would do is remove a RAM chip your current computer to compare the arrangement of the pins, if chips at least have the same arrangement of the contacts that you have a chance, if not just put you off his back, does not damage the system provided when the computer is off and unplugged and discharge any static electricity that might be carrying before touching any part of the computer. If you happen to have a chip RAM adjusting, then turn your system and see what happens, if you boot normally, the extra RAM, if nothing happens, remove the chip, because it is incompatible.
